A Gainesville man was arrested Sunday after entering an apartment and battering another man, according to a Gainesville Police Department arrest report.
Mathew Brandon Medlock, 33 entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment through an unlocked door without permission. He entered her bedroom and hit a man there 10 times, while the man curled into fetal position to protect himself.
Medlock’s ex-girlfriend tried to break up the fight, but Medlock shoved her away and continued fighting the man.
When the man and woman removed Medlock from the room and locked the door, Medlock kicked open the door and used the woman’s cellphone to break a hole into the door. He left when the woman called 911.
Medlock told police the fight with the man was mutual.
He was charged with burglary and battery and was held in the Alachua County jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
